I’m so sick of usefully-idiotic economists and marketing guys making a second career out of Wapo op-eds apologizing for their first career while pretending nobody could have seen it coming.

They’re like Trump — “nobody had any idea that lobbying against climate change policies would result in this”. Yes they did. We all did. You chose the money over humanity, you cannot now go back and crowdsource your superego.
